Leaders Who Last” travels to Berlin, Germany

I received his email on April 30, 2012...

Dear Dave,

This is Martin Buehlmann. I am leading the Vineyard Movement in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. I have read your book "Leaders who Last" and am very much intrigued and encouraged by what you are writing.

We are doing an annual leaders conference in January next year. It will take place from January 2nd until January 5th. I would like to invite you to be the speaker at this conference. I contacted SCM Media House, which includes Haenssler Media to translate your book into German. The response has been favorable, since we are taking 1,000 copies to be distributed at the conference.

After a Skype call with Martin, a few additional email exchanges and praying/discussing this with Susan, I accepted.

I leave tomorrow at 1:15 pm from John Wayne/Orange County Airport flying to Salt Lake City and then through Paris to Berlin.

I will be covering three aspects of Leaders Who Last at the January 2-5 Berlin Conference:

  1. A Credible Life
  2. A Compelling Vision
  3. A Cohesive Team

----> Recently I rewrote my vision statement:

“I dream of influencing thousands of leaders in hundreds of churches all over the world in having biblical-based, Holy Spirit-empowered and Jesus-honoring lives and ministries.”

This trip to Germany fits perfectly into the vision Jesus has given me. They tell me they are expecting 500-600 leaders from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

On Sunday January 6th, I will be preaching at a church in Berne, Switzerland and then I fly home on January 7th.

This is an amazing and gracious gift from the Lord for which I am grateful, humbled, excited and a bit nervous.

I will be translated into German and all the materials and slides have been translated as well.

“Now Joshua was old and advanced in years, and the Lord said to him, ‘you are old and advanced in years, and there remains yet very much land to possess.’ “  Joshua 13:1

This is an extremely motivating verse for me. I turned 73 on Saturday, December 29th and have no plans to slow down or retire. There yet remains very much land to possess for His honor.

Please stand with me during this trip.

  1. For good health leading up to and during the time there.  Especially for a strong voice.
  2. For His gracious anointing on the teaching. I can prepare myself, pray for myself, study, but I can’t anoint myself.
  3. That these leaders will go back to their churches as agents of change for the sake of the Gospel and it’s spread in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
  4. For some God-given personal conversations with leaders while there that would give honor and glory to Him by helping to advance the Gospel in Europe!
  5. For my wife, Susan, while I am away.

I am finishing up a seminar based on Mistakes Leaders Make and will have the first one February 26th right here in Orange County.

If you would like to consider having me come to your area in 2013 or 2014 to present a seminar with Dave Kraft on either of the two books, email me at:

If you are not a subscriber to my blog, Leadership From The Heart, why not do so on the right hand side and receive three leadership posts a week automatically on your smart phone and computer!

May 2013 be for you a Joyful and Jesus-blessed year! Joy is an inside job as the triune God works in your life, whereas happiness is an outside job that depends on how circumstances are going for you. Joy is more of a biblical concept than is happiness.
